As a child she fell ill and spent 6 months in the hospital. He was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The athlete became famous due to his skating exploits alongside Denis Samokhin, a compatriot. In 1993, they placed 8th at a Junior World Championship and in 1994 they finished 7th. After a brief collaboration with Maxim Kachanov, they placed 5th at the Goodwill Games of 1994. In 1995, she joined together alongside Vladimir Fedorov. The partnership was equally successful, as the pair were awarded the Finlandia Trophy on two occasions and competed at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating. The partnership proved to be a huge success as they were able to do greater results than they would have on their own. But the most memorable part of this partnership came when they finished 15th overall in the World Championships 1998.
